Bluvia water at school
Always within reach
We install water bottle refill stations in schools and kindergartens across Zadar County. The first is in Preko on Ugljan. Tell us which one should be next.
Why we started in Preko
I was a pupil at that school. Since September 2026, a bottle refill station has stood in its hallway.
A child brings their own bottle, presses a button and fills it. The station runs all day, connected directly to the water mains. It is used by around 200 pupils and staff.
I wanted to give something back to the place I grew up in — water within reach for kids at my old school, and less plastic for the island. Preko is first. What comes next depends on who reaches out to us.
Božidar Mijatović · owner of Bluvia · from Kali
Bluvia installs filtered water dispensing systems for hotels and restaurants across Zadar County. That business funds this program. That is why a device for a school can be free, why we do not collect donations, and why we will still be coming to change filters in five years.
Our goal is to drastically reduce the amount of plastic waste in our hallways and yard, while encouraging children to build a habit of regular hydration.Linda Kolega Babajko, headmistress of OŠ Valentin Klarin Preko
Ugljan is the pilot
The goal is to equip all nine institutions on the island. Once Ugljan is done, the other islands of Zadar County follow, then the mainland.

Servicing arrives by ferry, so we install devices in batches — that keeps maintenance reliable and long-term. We do not promise more devices than we can service.
Three ways to get involved
You do not need to be a headteacher or a mayor. Most schools so far were suggested by parents and teachers.
For anyone
Suggest a school
Send us the name of a school or kindergarten and its location. The rest is on us — we contact the institution and come to look at the space.

Donated device
Equipment and installation are free of charge. The institution takes on regular servicing: two visits a year, replacing both filters, and cleaning. Priority goes to island and branch schools.

Sponsored installation
Device, installation, and the first year of servicing. Regular value exceeds €1,400 — Bluvia covers the difference. No limit on the number of devices. We issue a donation certificate and list you on this page.
The amount can also be split. From €198 upward we combine several sponsors for the same institution — all are listed by name next to that school or kindergarten. Nothing is charged until the amount for the institution is filled.
Get in touchBy November. Municipal and school budgets are planned in autumn for the following year. For a device in the next school year, it is best to get in touch before November. This year’s six donated devices are allocated in order of application.
Get in touchThe device we install
A wall-mounted bottle refill station, connected directly to the water mains.
- Two-stage filtration: 5 µm sediment filter and OASIS Galaxi/Phosphate
- Reduces chlorine, lead and limescale, improves water taste and smell
- Tested to NSF/ANSI 42 and 53 standards
- Housing made of antimicrobial ABS plastic and stainless steel
- Uses no electricity — water is not chilled, delivered at room temperature
- Bluvia replaces filters and services the device every six months
In kindergartens and smaller branch units, instead of a wall-mounted station we install an under-sink filter — a simpler solution suited to a smaller number of children.
Water from the public mains in Croatia is safe and regularly monitored. Filtration does not solve a health problem — it improves taste and smell and reduces chlorine. The refill station solves the actual problem: making water available to children throughout the day, and plastic.
A flow meter is installed on the device in Preko. We publish the number of litres and the number of plastic bottles avoided publicly on this page — first reading in March 2027.

Suggest a school or kindergarten
Applying is free and carries no obligation. We reach out to every institution, regardless of the outcome.
If you are suggesting someone else’s school — the institution’s name and location are enough. We contact them.
If you are applying for your own institution, send us:
- Institution name
- Location / island
- Number of pupils or children
- Contact person, email and phone
- Whether you have secured funding or are seeking a donation
Frequently asked questions
If the device is donated, the school only pays for regular servicing — €228 a year per device. This covers two service visits a year, replacing both filters, and cleaning the device. Equipment and installation are free. If a municipality or sponsor funds the device, the first year of servicing is also free.
€998 per institution, covering the device, installation, and the first year of servicing. The regular value of that equipment and service exceeds €1,400, and Bluvia covers the difference.
Primary schools, branch schools, secondary schools and kindergartens. An application can be sent by a headteacher, secretary, teacher, parent, or a municipality representative. A prior decision by the school board is not required — that is only needed before installation.
No. Water from the public mains in Croatia is safe and regularly monitored. A filtered station improves the taste and smell of the water and reduces chlorine, and above all makes water available to children throughout the day, without a plastic bottle.
A few hours, outside of lessons. A cold water connection and drain are required. We inspect the space in advance and let you know if the location is suitable.
No. The devices in schools do not chill the water — they deliver it at room temperature directly from the mains, so they use no electricity.
Yes. From €198 upward we combine several sponsors for the same institution, until the €998 for that school or kindergarten is filled. All sponsors are listed by name next to that institution — on this page and in the installation announcement. Nothing is charged until the amount is filled; until then it counts as a pledged, not a paid, donation.
Servicing and repairs are carried out by Bluvia. A fault is reported directly to us, and our contact details stay attached to the device.
The program currently covers Zadar County, with priority given to the islands. We accept and keep applications from other counties on a list — we expand as the number of partners and sponsors grows.
